Euro Challenge Club Goes to Nationals!

This spring FOI received a grant request to support a group of students travelling to New York City because they made it to the national level of a competition.    These students found out about their achievement on March 30th and had less than 3 weeks to make something happen!    FOI looked at our budget and thanks to the generous donations of families like yours, we were able to grant them $2000.   They were able to receive matching funds and make this opportunity come to life.   This is just one example of the FOI grant process in action!

With the support of FOI, five Ingraham students traveled to New York City April 22-25, 2023 to participate the national semifinals of the Euro Challenge competition. Euro Challenge is a program of the Delegation of the European Union to the United States in partnership with the Moody’s Foundation, Working in Support of Education (W!se) and the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Similar in concept to the Model UN, Euro Challenge is an exciting competition for 9th and 10th grade students that provides the opportunity to learn about the European Union and the euro. Ingraham’s team focused on addressing the challenges of social inequality in Spain. The five students entered the program knowing very little about global economic issues. They spent endless hours teaching themselves about GDP growth, unemployment, and inflation in the euro area. They now know more about the monetary policy activities of the European Central Bank than most adults in the United States! This year, members of the 2022-23 team are mentoring and coaching a new group of 9th grade participants.
