Featured Impact: Bright Futures

Bright Futures is a part of FOI that works to increase opportunities and reduce barriers for Ingraham High School students who are experiencing poverty or homelessness/housing insecurity.  The goal is to help all students equitably access their education and inclusively participate in the Ingraham high school experience.

This year, Bright Futures has a budget of $50,000.    Most of the budget is met by using money raised from auctions and fundraisers in 2017, 2019 and 2020.   With extra support from FOI grants, community partners like the Haller Lake Community church, and generous community donors, Bright Futures has been able to extend the time between major fundraising efforts.  See the video below for a great summary of what Bright Futures is able to do year after year.

This year, a donation to the Annual Appeal will allow FOI to give Bright Futures a $10,000 grant.  Here is a small sample of the types of support we are able to offer:

  •  winter break support

  •  graduation caps and gowns

  •  dance ticket scholarships

  •  keep the Pride Closet stocked with clothing, shoes, coats, toiletries

  • pay school fees for AP tests

  • provide academic supplies

  • offer a selection of Ingraham Spirit Gear and so much more

Interested in getting more involved???

If you would like to get more involved with Bright Futures,  meetings are held at school at 10am on the second Tuesday of each month.  Reach out to our Bright Futures chair Aleka Brown at foibrightfutures@gmail.com for more information.

Learn about the beginnings of Bright Futures. The video may be older but the needs are still the same. And yes, we still offer spirit gear and the flannel pajama pants in the Pride Closet.
