Senior Parent Meeting

Notes from the October 8th Parent Meeting

Senior year is a busy year. As fellow parents, Friends of Ingraham hosted a meeting to offer a quick overview of what to expect this year and to start planning to keep traditions such as SPREE and senior breakfast going.

At the end of this summary there is an opportunity to fill out a google form  to keep up to date on senior events and how to volunteer to help.

Very important information will always be sent by the school or district to your e-mail address on file with the school.

Helpful Information

Senior Pictures

*The default photo in the yearbook is the picture on the student ID. Seniors have the option to submit a custom picture, a “senior picture”.

*The yearbook staff will provide a link to submit a picture. This year’s deadline is in January. Look for information in the Weekly Bulletin in the weeks ahead.

Helpful info from parents who have older kids who have graduated:

  • You can take a senior picture yourself but you will want a high quality image. Or you can hire a photographer. This is friendly reminder to find a photographer and book an appointment soon.

  • The yearbook will also ask for senior quotes and baby pictures as part of their effort to create fun content!

  • Yearbooks can be ordered on School Pay now and at other times through the school year.

  • Another fun tradition that is fun but optional are senior ads. These can be purchased and are a fun way to celebrate your senior. Details will be in the Weekly Bulletin.

Cap and Gown Information

The school will send an e-mail (usually in November) with a link to order a cap and gown. It will also be announced in the weekly bulletin.

Helpful info from parents who have older kids who have graduated:

  • Everyone wears a blue cap and gown. A new cap/gown/stole/tassle combo is about $80.

  • If you have a cap and gown from a prior year that is in good condition, it is ok to reuse. Every student will need to order a new “stole” and tassle. The stole and tassle are different each year.

  • The company who sells the caps and gowns offers a lot of other items for sale. Those purchases are optional.

  • After graduation, if you want to donate your cap and gown, there is a box in the main office. They are stored and provided as a resource in the Pride Closet as part of Bright Futures.

A Few Extras

PROM

*Prom is planned by student leaders and school staff. The date and location are being worked on now. Stay tuned for details!

Helpful info from parents who have older kids who have graduated:

  • Ticket prices are usually between $25 and $50. Prices will be determined by student leaders and their advisors.

  • It’s usually in May.

  • Like all school dances, there will be security, staff chaperones, guest passes will be available at a higher price and tickets will be available for purchase on school pay prior to the event.

Yard and Window Signs

In the past, FOI has provided yard signs for our graduates as a free gift. Due to fundraising challenges, FOI cannot offer the signs for free this year.

The signs cost about $2000 each year. There will be fundraising for senior events and it is possible to add the cost of signs into the fundraising goals.

We have a volunteer to edit the artwork for the signs. Assuming we can find fundraising, we will be looking for someone to organize ordering the signs and distributing them this spring.
