Launched in 2016-2017, as a program of Friends of Ingraham (FOI), Bright Futures works to create opportunities and reduce barriers for Ingraham High School students who are experiencing food and housing insecurity.   Bright Futures streamlines access to resources that help the IHS staff more comprehensively support our most vulnerable students.  Our goal is to help all students equitably access their education and inclusively participate in the Ingraham community.

WHAT WE DO

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Financial Support

Bright Futures is 100% funded by donations from Friends of Ingraham, our community, local businesses and grants. There are no administrative fees. Currently, we operate on an annual budget of $50,000. Donate here to contribute directly to Bright Futures.

100% of your donation goes towards supporting students.

The Pride Closet

The Pride Closet is a special room inside the school where our students in need can pick up essentials like clothing, shoes, backpacks, academic supplies, warm winter gear, and a variety of toiletries. This is a welcome and inviting space that our students regularly rely on.

You can help replenish much needed clothing items here as well as in-demand toiletries here, and simply choose Ingraham High School as the delivery location. Alternatively, shop at your favorite store and drop off a donation at the main office.

Weekend & Holiday Food Support

The federally funded backpack program through Feeding America, partners local food banks with schools to provide supplemental food for students during weekends and school breaks.

In community partnership with University District Food Bank, and the Bridges Program, we distribute supplemental food backpacks every week for over 200 students. If you would like to purchase supplemental snacks for these food backpacks, just know that students are delighted to find any surprise additions to the usual food bank items.

You can also volunteer to pick up food from the U-District Food Bank and deliver to Ingraham. This is an easy 1 hour trip and we need drivers every Thursday. Sign up here.

A large portion of our annual budget goes toward additional food support as deemed necessary by our dedicated social worker and school counselors. Please consider a financial donation to our program to support these efforts.

Seasonal Supply Drives

Please look for our monthly Seasonal Drives in the school bulletins and the FOI monthly newsletter. High needs items include Backpacks, Toiletries and Warm Winter clothing. We rely heavily on the generous support of these drives by our Ingraham community. Please share these links with family and friends!

The Student Experience

The Bright Futures team works to ensure every student has access to the full high school experience. Our funding has covered dance tickets, club fees, spirit clothing, and college visits. Special support for our seniors includes graduation caps and gowns, yearbooks and access to Prom. These moments matter. No student should miss out because of financial hardship.

Join our Committee

The Bright Futures committee is always looking for additional community members. If you would like to be a part of our team, Bright Futures meetings are held at Ingraham on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 10am. RAMily

All of the support that Bright Futures provides is offered with diversity, equity and inclusion in mind. Our mutual wish is that graduation is within reach of every student who attends Ingraham, and that each of these young people are well prepared for life after high school. It takes a village to build these resources. Your continued support and generosity is making a direct impact on the lives of our Ingraham students. Thank you RAMily!
