October & November News

Stocking the Shelves

A huge thank you to the Ingraham community for supporting our ongoing efforts to keep the Bright Futures PRIDE Closet shelves stocked. The Girls Soccer Team hosted a Snack to School Drive, bring in over 800 individual snack items! And the Cross Country Team hosted the SOCKtober Sock Drive, warming the feet of our Rams during the drizzly Seattle autumn. All proceeds from these drives benefit Bright Futures, a program that serves our Ingraham students who are experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity.

If you would like to contribute to the PRIDE Closet throughout the year, there is a donation bin in the main office. You can also shop through our Amazon Wish List at:

Honor Society Hygiene Drive

The National Honor Society is hosting a hygiene drive from Nov 14th-30th. They are collecting wash cloths, personal use sanitizers, and products for hair, nail, dental, and skin care to support the Ingraham community. All donations can be brought to the collection box in the main office. Thank you so much for your generosity!

Your Donations at Work!

Friends of Ingraham just completed our first grant cycle of the academic year, and, thanks to the generosity of our community, we provided over $14,000 to various and diverse programs at Ingraham! We were able to fulfill requests to support clubs, provide field trip scholarships, purchase high-interest literature, help with uniforms, and more. We were thrilled to be able to grant our History department a new set of US History Textbooks! This wouldn't be possible without your generous contributions, thank you so much for your continued support!

Friends of Ingraham Annual Funds Drive

Our Annual Funds Drive is off to a fantastic start! We set a goal of raising $35,000 by December 31, 2018, and we're almost halfway there! WOW! If you haven't had a chance to donate yet, there is still time. Your contribution has a direct impact on this academic year, helping fund grants that provide the tools and opportunities that enrich our students’ learning experiences.

Remember, if your company offers donation matching, it’s an excellent way to double your impact! Donations can be made online at, or by a check made out to Friends of Ingraham. Checks can be dropped off in the main office or mailed to:

Family Education Evening: The Seattle Promise

Friends of Ingraham was excited to welcome Nicole Peronto, Student Success Specialist at North Seattle College, to discuss and answer questions about the Seattle Promise at our last Family Education Evening. The Seattle Promise is a newly expanded program familiarly called “The 13th Year," and is designed to provide the financial support and personal guidance your student needs to succeed in college.

The program is open to all students of eligible Seattle Public High Schools regardless of GPA, income, or background. Seattle Promise Scholars are eligible for the following services support applying for financial aid and college applications, full coverage of any tuition expenses remaining after other scholarships and financial aid, assistance with choosing and registering for classes, preparation for the transition to college, and guidance and mentorship through the first year of college.

If you couldn't make the meeting, you can learn more about the Seattle Promise at:, or chat with our IHS Counseling Team.

Family Fun to Benefit Friends of Ingraham

If you find yourself on the Eastside this holiday season, consider taking the family to the Bellevue Downtown Ice Rink. If you visit from November 23-December 21, 2018 & January 1-13, 2019 and let them know that you're from Ingraham, they'll donate a portion of the admission price to Friends of Ingraham!

Featuring the region’s largest covered open-air ice skating experience, admission is $15/person (includes skate rental), $10/person for ages eight and under.

Families can make it a night of holiday fun with a visit to Snowflake Lane at The Bellevue Collection and stroll through Garden d’Lights at the Bellevue Botanical Garden!

Thank you, Geeta!

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Geeta Teredesai for organizing the College Rep Visits at Ingraham. Having the ability to learn about the variety of options available and to personally engage with college representatives is so helpful for our students. Thank you for working so hard to provide such an amazing opportunity for Ingraham kids!
